Skypark to Showcase ARTthritis: Made Visible

Skypark will be a venue for a new exhibition ARTthritis:Made Visible, to help raise awareness of the many young people in Scotland who are living with arthritis and its related conditions.

The organisers of the exhibition Arthritis Care Scotland and Arthritis Research UK, have joined together so that they can do more to help people with arthritis to live full and active lives. Commenting on behalf of the Charity,  Izabela Mertowska-Shand said, “ARThritis:Made Visible is part of The Take Control Project, that is funded by Children in Need and provides support for young people from the ages of 10 to 18 who have arthritis or related conditions. Take Control delivers self-management workshops, activity weekends and Joint Creativity art workshops.

“The exhibition in Skypark will bring together the works of young people with arthritis and related joint conditions from all our Joint Creativity workshops throughout the year. Seeking to communicate what it is like to live with an invisible chronic condition from a young age, these works explore various invisible aspects of the condition.

“We hope to raise awareness through the exhibition that arthritis can affect all ages and highlight our assertion that arthritis is invisible”.

Lisa Kirsop of Resonance Capital, who handles marketing and tenant services on behalf of Skypark Trustees commented: “Our donated gallery space is open to the artistic community from established to up-and-coming artists and provides a platform for exposure beyond a traditional gallery space. We look forward to welcoming the exhibition to support the charity in raising awareness for the many young people that live with arthritis”.

ARTthritis: Made Visible will run in Skypark from 11th to 18th November 2017.

The Exhibition will also take place in Arthritis Care Scotland, Edward House, 199 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3EX between 11-18 November.
